Together Alone is a one-man-project. After being in bands for the major part of my life-time, I've come to the conclusion that I'm better of alone. Because being in a band requires endless compromising regarding everything from what songs to play to how they should be performed and how it ought to sound. Sometimes that's a good thing; because other people could interact with your songs and may add dimensions to them you're not able to add yourself. But most of the times it's just frustrating, because the result does not get in line with your expectations (that could be down to the fact that you have actually written a crappy tune, lol.) Anyway, in the end this will you with a load of refused songs, and that was the starting-point for this project; to do it all by myself, writing, arranging and recording. When recording it yourself, you are totally free making it sound anyway you like, and you can redo things you are not pleased with anytime. No time-constraints or deadlines, record when you feel like it, not 12-hours-sessions when you are not in the mood, just because you have booked expensive studio-time. And you don't have to put up with some dumb M.F. telling you 'you can't do like this'... Ok, with limited technical and economical resources and, of course, lacking skills, it will never be able to match the sound-quality of a modern top-of-the-line studio with a fancy producer, but I don' give a f**k. This is 100% my thing, for better or for worse, take it or leave it, no one else to blame, only me. Oh, major musical influences for this project; Mainly The Brittish late seventies, early eighties post-punk-scene, bands like Magazine, The Stranglers, Killing Joke, Joy Division, Gang of Four, Ultravox... /H -
