.. Biography FRED COUSIN: Poet multi-instrumentalist, Fred Cousin pays tribute to his peers in 12 titles in his first album " cool and calm ". Fascinated with percussion instrument Fred Cousin began his musical by banging on cans in an attic. He has eight years old and his great masters are Phil Collins and Dennis Chambers. Born in La Ciotat from a French father and mother Gabonnese, mother it’s at the age of 15 that he discover the djembé and he becomes aware of its African roots and begin to study ardently the traditional music. With a few peers he begin his first group " Saklak Percussion " and goes on stage at places such as “theaters du Moulin” or “la machine à coudre” in Marseille. Then he does his military service, as a musician. After his service he creates a second group called" Rasbaille " in which he is both singer and drummer and is noticed very quickly for his performances in this group. That why the reggae group Daïpivo suggests him becoming his percussionist. After 2 years playing in Daïpivo Fred Cousin meet the members of the association called Kabba Roots who offer him the opportunity, trough the music, discover Jamaica and so create a link between Aubagne and Kingston! He then meets Brother Moses founding member of " mystic revelation of Rastafarian " and real legend of the Rastafarian culture, Putus roots and cédric "jah fuzzy" Treston, members of the johnston music club of Kingston... Totally involved in the midst of the Kabba roots musical project for 4 years with profitable exchanges, Fred is going to feed on contact with experienced elders, a rich source of reggae music... More than 40 concerts and tours will further enrich his musical talent and to give him the tastes for singing. Song writing will come little by little naturally with song such as "Mama Africa" or " Cool and Calm ". For several years, Fred Cousin fashions his on stage dream as lead singer and writes non stop the songs he sings accompanied himself on the guitar like a troubadour... His meeting up Stéphane Cavin, musician, composer and well-know producer will be of the most importance in producing his first album.
