Bio: Born in the imagination of two childhood friends, CRaWLeR band is the result of various influences going from blues rock music (the soundtrack of their early years), to their classic conservatoire studies. It is in pop music that they found themselves as teenagers when they started composing their first songs, with their guitar and keyboard being their only tools. This experience led to the creation of a hybrid music soon complemented by electro to transport their audience floating in air to unknown lands. Emotions, in turn comtemplative and hysterical, take us on misty paths where ghostly big band acoustics and tortured, clandestine samples blend together.

Members: Laurent Dessain (Vocals / Keyboards), Vivian Dréau (Guitars)

Contributors: Gerard Cartoixa (Drums), Fabricio Nicolas (Bass), Clarisse Alvado (Sirens), Rodolphe Marty (Script), Pink Tara (Visual)

Bio

Biography : CRaWLeR was born in the imagination of childhood friends, under a big cedar tree … Isolated from the city, music made us travel far away … Uncomfortable with the world, we created our own with sounds and words … With time, going deeper in details, discovering new tools … giving birth to a colored, out there universe. We play with instinct, and write with a scientific approach to raw energy. CRaWLeR member - Laurent CRaWLeR member : Laurent : Vaguely Piano. Voices & Words. Gaussian Blur. Tape Cutting. Started the piano at 6 but prefer singing. Put too many voice layers. Wish I could clone myself to make a choir. Think the sound of the voice itself is enough but eventually sit down for hours and write proper sentences. Gave up practicing the keyboard for computer music when I discovered that sampling Penderecki was a possibility. Prefer an old german upright to a grand piano. Tend to work on a recording so much in details that I become disgusted, unsatisfied and frustrated, then abandon the piece unreleased. CRaWLeR member - Vivian CRaWLeR member : Vivian : Strings Handjob. Static Beats. Scanner Darkly. Entropic Echoes. Learned to play guitar by myself. Eventually joined a jazz class. Father wrote books about Bob Dylan. Obsessed with archiving absolutely EVERYTHING. Broaden the initial sound of a guitar too an infinite panel of different colors, from the trenchant of a violin to the fuzz of an earthquake, thanks to my weird sonic gear. Do MIDI programming too. Still amazed by the Telecaster guitar that I bought in Tokyo. Spend a lot of time in flea markets, looking for foreign instruments and old cameras. Just Plug and Play, period. CRaWLeR contributor - Gerard Cartoixa CRaWLeR contributor - Fabricio Nicolas CRaWLeR contributor - Clarisse Alvado CRaWLeR contributor - Pink Tara CRaWLeR contributor - Rodolphe Marty Single - Tomorrow by CRaWLeR : Tomorrow : One of this song that has lingered for years, started on a prairie, by a sweet summer day... Haaa... Still. After different recording sessions, in different times and places, 9 years of sound hacking, here it is. A folk song with vintage inspiration. The mastering for this version is radio-oriented, making it bigger than it really is... Birthday : Written and recorded in just one day. We always fail to play it Live. There are mystical vibes to it. The piano and the guitar play together a spineless melody. The childish singing is followed by a synthetic version of himself, humans slowly marching to their fate, at the pace of a landslide. As individuals though, we’ll be ok. Download "Birthday (Happy 90's Remix)"
Soundtrack - Des Rives Urbaines by CRaWLeR : In 2009, film maker Simon Vautier asked us to produce music for his movie. It’s a very graphic piece, hardly any dialogue, where the main character’s consciousness is divided into dimensions that he creates in his stories. CRaWLeR was granted the part of “belle-ile”. a small island in the atlantic ocean, deserted and wild, with an eerie atmosphere. Other musicians were involved in the project, for each different phase. It mixes urban noise and trash places with nature and loneliness. It took time to create a musical atmosphere that fit the story, and we had to try many different versions, resulting in hours of music that we still have to finnish... Our influences went from composers like John Barry, or video game designer Akira Yamaoka, among others. Although the film is finished now, Some of them are still in progess.
